Glenn R. Stoutt, M.D. was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After attending Vanderbilt University for undergraduate work, he received his medical degree at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine, where he was president of the graduating class and president of the student council. He was also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honorary society. His residency in pediatrics was completed at the University of Louisville, where he was Chief Medical Resident . He served 10 years on the boards of Kosair Children’s Hospital and the former Alliant Hospital System. Dr. Stoutt has served on numerous committees of many hospitals, but his favorite is the Norton Healthcare Library Committee, of which he is currently Chairman.

Dr. Stoutt is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow in good standing with the American Academy of Pediatrics.

He enjoys writing, and has several books to his credit, including the Newborn Book we give out to our parents of newborns!

He now limits his practice to Aviation Medicine. This involves examining student, private, commercial, and airline pilots; and also Air Traffic Controllers. Although no longer active in flying, he holds a commercial license with multi-engine, instrument, and instructor ratings.

 "I love aviation and airplanes, and especially talking to pilots "they are all (slightly) crazy, but never dull; they are fascinating people who respect and love aviation." He has been an FAA Senior Medical Examiner (AME) for many years. "The sole purpose of the AME program is to promote aviation safety." Dr. Stoutt writes a regular column for the Federal Air Surgeon’s Medical Bulletin. (He denies having known the Wright Brothers. )

He and his wife Tyleen have two married children: Van and Tassie both now live in Louisville.  His interests? "Walking my standard poodle and Tyleen’s Scottish terrier, reading, swimming, computers, digital photography and darkroom, learning Spanish, and writing." Also: "Any kind of humor makes my day."
